The Trussell Trust runs the largest network of food banks in the UK, giving emergency food and support to people in crisis. Fourteen million people live below the poverty line and in the last year 1,9 million three-day emergency food supplies were distributed to people in crisis.
Watch when Angela visited Wirral Foodbank which has been open all through the lockdown, working with Wirral Council’s humanitarian hub to provide food to those who need it. Usually operating with 350 volunteers, the coronavirus outbreak meant that the foodbank only had about 80 volunteers who were able to help.
